I guess I’m thinking mostly about the Leviticus passage. The description of the unclean garment can’t be disputed. Blood is hard to get out once in clothing. Do you remember the passage in Genesis where Jacob is about tl take Rachel back to Canaan? She wants to steal the household gods from her father’s house. She hides them under the things she’s sitting on. When her father comes to get them she says that “the way of women is upon her. She lies. She was not suffering from the women’s complaint that day. I think her father takes the gods back. Jacob is not too happy about her wanting to serve idols.
This passage tells us that in Jacob’s time, some of what was written down as law in Leviticus was already being practiced. Sorry, I don’t remember which chapter in Genesis this came from. I’m guessing, though, that you probably remember the account.
That passage is found in Genesis chapter 31. The humor behind the text mocks idolatry. The idols are unclean.
