Jeremiah, writes, “You have wrapped yourself with anger and pursued us, killing without pity; you have wrapped yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can pass through.” In our sufferings, God stands hidden from us. Yet, in the mystery of the incarnation we set our eyes on Jesus, where God is revealed for us. Christ is Immanuel, that is, God with us. He is present in the affliction of His saints suffering and being desolated in them and with them.
