The Holy Trinity in the Book of Acts- Part 3

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we continue our discuss on the doctrine of the Holy Trinity in the Book of Acts.  In particular, we discuss the person and work of the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit is True God.  He is the third person of the Blessed Trinity.  He speaks, teaches, reveals, leads, guides, and directs.  The Holy Spirit is not a mere force or fuzzy feeling.  He is Eternal God proceeding from the Father and the Son.

The Holy Trinity in the Book of Acts- Part 2

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we continue our discuss on the doctrine of the Holy Trinity in the Book of Acts.  We look at Acts chapters 4, 5, 10, 11, and 15.  Furthermore, we discuss the Apostolic usage of “God” for the person of the Father and “Lord” for the person of the Son teaching us to make a distinction in the plurality of persons of the Blessed Holy Trinity.  We commonly see this distinction in Paul’s greetings at the beginning of each of his epistles.

The Holy Trinity in the Book of Acts- Part 1

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we discuss the doctrine of the Holy Trinity in the Book of Acts.  We look at Acts chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, and 8 to learn to make a distinction between the plurality of the persons of the Blessed Trinity.  The person of the Father sent the Son in the flesh.  The person of the Son was crucified, raised, and ascended to the right hand of the Father.  The Ascended Son pours out the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles.  The person of the Holy Spirit teaches and guides in all truth.

The Holy Trinity in Creation- Part 7

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we discuss the sending of the Son and the Holy Spirit in order to give life.  As we are taught a distinction in action, we are taught to confess a distinction in the plurality of persons of the Godhead.  We learn to make a distinction between the person who sends and the person who is sent.  In addition, we learn that the unity of action teaches us a unity in the divine essence.  Only God is eternal and gives life.  At the same time we are taught that the Father is eternal and gives life, the Son is eternal and gives life, and the Holy Spirit is eternal and  gives life.

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we discuss how to properly read Isaiah 44, 45, 48 in light of Hebrews 1.  Likewise, look at learning to make a distinction in persons when we are taught that the Father speaks of the Son in Psalm 45 and 102.  Here the LORD is speaking to the LORD. Also, we look at how Paul teaches Isaiah 48 in Romans 14 and Philippians 2.

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we discuss a little more Hebrew grammar with the use of plural nouns to testify to the plurality of persons in the Godhead.  Also, we discuss some guidelines for finding passages that testify to the Trinity.  In addition, we address the reason why some do not see the Trinity in such passages.  We compare such objections to the True Rabbis, that is, the Apostles who teach us how to read the Old Testament scriptures.

The Holy Trinity in Creation- Part 2

Rev. Brian L. Kachelmeier

In this lecture, we discuss a little Hebrew grammar with plural nouns in connection to God.  Elohim is a Hebrew plural noun literally meaning “Gods” thus testifying to the plurality of persons in the Godhead.  Likewise, we are taught to rejoice in our “Makers,” that is God, the Word of God, and the Spirit of God who were in the beginning.

The Three C’s for Confessing the Trinity

triangle3The Three C’s for Confessing the Trinity

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are coessential, coeternal, and coequal.

Coessential

  • The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God.  Yet, there are not three gods, but One God.
  • All three persons of the Blessed Holy Trinity have the one undivided divine essence in common.

Coeternal

  • The Father is eternal, the Son is eternal, and the Holy Spirit is eternal.  Yet, there are not three eternals, but One Eternal God.
  • The Father is eternally unbegotten, the Son is eternally begotten, and the Holy Spirit eternally proceeds.
  • There never was a time in which the person of the Father did not exist, there never was a time in which the person of the Son did not exist, and there never was a time in which the person of the Holy Spirit did not exist.
  • In the beginning, all three persons were present and active, namely the person of the Father referred to as God, the person of the Son referred to as the Word of God, and the person of the Holy Spirit referred to as the Spirit of God.
  • All three persons of the Blessed Holy Trinity are eternal.

Coequal

  • The Holy Spirit is worshiped and glorified with the Father and the Son.  Yet, there are not three gods that are worshiped and glorified, but One Eternal God who is worshiped and glorified.
  • All three persons of the Blessed Holy Trinity are to be given equal divine praise and honor that can only rightfully be given to God.
